Will You Lose Your Muscles If You Stop Working Out?

February 28, 2022

When you want to have big and strong muscles, you will work hard to train and work out to get that. The sad part is after getting their ideal body, some people are just being too happy about it and then remove exercise from their routine. The next question is, can your muscles shrink when you stop exercising?

The answer is yes, it can and we call it atrophy. One thing that you need to know is your muscle is already there and it will grow if you routinely exercise. The workout you do will train your muscles, so they will grow bigger and stronger. That’s why when you stop working out, your muscles do not go away, but they will shrink and go back to their size before.

The weight training you do will stimulate the growth of the dimensions or volume of your muscle fibers. This is called hypertrophy. This mass will not survive in your body if you do not train regularly. If you have a busy schedule or are in situations where you can't go to the gym, you can still train your muscles with simple exercise movements such as squats, push-ups, and chin-ups. This exercise is expected to continue to stimulate your muscle fibers and minimize the possibility of atrophy occurring. The keyword and strategy to avoid atrophy are routine.

Not only regular exercise, but you also need to keep a healthy and balanced diet. If not, over time the muscles will realize that they no longer need to store too much energy so that the glycogen in the muscles is reduced which causes muscle mass to shrink due to the absence of physical activity.

So, try to keep exercising to maintain your muscles. If you want to join Gold's Gym, you can see ongoing promos by clicking here. Let's join Gold's Gym now!
