Master Pilates Trainer & International Presenter - Portia Page Master Class

12 – 15 February 2015 – We had a great opportunity to host Portia Page, Master Instructor and International Presenter for Pilates from US, last week! Not only that she gave our members a rare chance to be taught by a master of Pilates, but Portia also gave an intensive 3-day Pilates Mat & Pilates Ball training to our amazing GGX Instructors! Portia has been teaching Pilates for 20 years around the world. She even wrote a comprehensive book on Pilates complete with clear visual guides back in 2010. “Pilates is the lengthening and strengthening of your muscles through your core, the center of your body. If you have a strong core, you’ll have strong limbs, too,” she explained. The basic principles of Pilates are control, which means being aware of your body and what it is doing at all times, precision of your movements and posture, as well as working with a rhythm and flow carried by your breathing pattern. The idea is to work from the center of your body, which is your core muscles, radiating out to your extremities. Pilates will strengthen your core and give you a better posture, as well as a more efficient muscle movement that will support your day-to-day activities.
“Start coming to classes, start doing it on a regular basis, because this is something you can do everyday,” she said to everyone who wants to start doing Pilates but hasn’t got around to it. What’s more important is to be patient and to just keep working on it. Sooner or later you’ll start to see a change on your body!
