Mushta Babes Share Comfortable Workout Tips for Women Wearing Hijab

Urban women nowadays are expected to not only be active but also flexible. They have to juggle between building their career with their responsibilities as a wife and mother at home. To do that they have to make sure they’re healthy and in a tiptop shape. This also applies to women who wear hijab. Hijab need not be a hindrance to them in keeping up with their fitness and appearance.

 

Mushta (a portmanteau of “Muslimah” and “Sista”, which means Islamic sisterhood) is a community for women who don hijab and are sports enthusiast as well. They would get together and share their love of fitness and do physical activities. They also have a sub-community within Mushta itself called Mushta Run, which is specifically for those who love running.

 

According to Mushta Babes, that’s what members of the Mushta Run sub-community call themselves, for a comfortable workout we have to look for hijab that’s made of right material. Jersey, a type of knit fabric, is a good choice because it’s lightweight and absorbs sweat. Jersey will also cling to our head, so you don’t have to worry about your hijab falling off or your hair showing.

 

Second thing to look for in a hijab is the style. Look for a simpler hijab with as little ornament as possible so it won’t get in the way while you’re working out. Even though you’re wearing a simple hijab, doesn’t mean you can’t still look cute though! You can play with colors; mix matching two bright colors to keep things interesting. Adding headband or a bow can also accentuate your whole look.

 

Though running is their first love, Mushta Babes also share a love for other group exercises as well like yoga, pilates, and TRX. They even do dance performances as well!
