Love Yourself? Let’s Eat Slower!

June 5, 2015

It’s hard to deny that speedy eating has somehow become a “culture” of the people who live in big cities. Although the truth is, speedy eating is not good for our digestive system. When you eat too fast, it will be harder to digest and we tend to eat more when we eat faster.

There are some tips to slowing down your eating habits:

1. Cut or part your meals into small portions

Train yourself to eating smaller meals but more often. The secret of this habit is that you don’t starve yourself. When you are starving, you tend to eat more than what you actually need.

2. Turn off the TV when you eat

There are many of us that growing up watching television while eating. Sometimes the movie get a little too exciting, we forget that our bowl of potato chips are already empty since two hours ago. Turn off the television, enjoy and be grateful for every bite of food that goes into your mouth.

3. Have a relaxation 5 minutes before the first bite

We are in the most vulnerable state when our stomach is empty. Don’t believe it? Try passing several restaurants when you are really hungry. The smell of food will lead you to anxiety and there is a sudden urge to eat the food as fast as possible. Before eating, pause and do a relaxation for two minutes. Sit and breathe regularly. Ask yourself, “Do I need this food?”
