Type of Food For Suhoor to Keep You Healthy During Ramadan

Suhoor is one of the activities that you will do in Ramadan. It has an important role to keep you energized and healthy during the fasting time.

To optimize your suhoor meals and to minimize the problems when you're fasting, there are some things that you should consider doing in suhoor. Here is some advice for you.

  1. Try to avoid soft drinks and caffeinated drinks, such as soda, chocolate, tea, and coffee. Caffeinated drinks may have mild diuretic effect, it will cause you to urinate more that can cause thirst and leads to dehydration.

  2. Eat complex carbs to feel full longer. You can try to eat wheat pasta, brown rice, red rice, wheat bread, and tubers.

  3. Fulfill daily fluid needs. It is really important to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. You can drink 5 glasses at iftar, and 3 glasses at iftar. Pregnant women are advised to drink 2,4 liters of water and nursing moms are advised to drink around 3,1 liters of water a day.

  4. Avoid over-salted foods. When your foods are too salty, your body needs water to dilute the salt, that's when you start to feel thirsty.

  5. Eat balanced nutrition in suhoor. According to the Ministry of Health of Indonesia, balanced meals contain carbohydrates for energy, protein (animal and plant-based) to maintain your muscle mass, produce antibody, vegetables and fruits to keep your electrolytes balanced when you workout and are physically active.

Tips on How to Fulfill Your Daily Water Needs

If you’re into snacks, try drinking a glass of water before snacking, and then make it into a habit. Another small change that you can do is always bring a bottle of water with you anytime you go outside. By doing this, you can help yourself to not skip water anymore.

According to the Ministry of Health of Indonesia, the best types of water to drink are clear, colorless, odorless, and tasteless. It also does not contain dangerous bacteria and chemical substances.

In order to avoid health problems due to water drinking, you always need to make sure that your water is healthy. Complete your healthy habit by drinking enough healthy water and get lots of benefits from it.
