Sore Muscles After Workout? Find out the reasons here!

April 13, 2021

Have you ever felt muscle pain after exercising? Do not get any benefits but instead have a bad effect on your body. According to the National Health Service muscle pain after physical activity is called delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).

DOMS usually occurs when you are just trying new physical activities, changing your routine such as increasing the duration or intensity of exercise. When the muscles are forced to work harder than usual or differently, there is a kind of microscopic damage (objects invisible to the eye) in the muscle fibers. Now, this causes aches and pains in the joints of our bodies.

Don't worry, usually, muscle pain will recover in a matter of days or even hours. It is necessary to have a regular schedule when exercising, so the muscles of the body will more easily adapt to increasingly strenuous activities. Even though DOMS is a normal reaction and is temporary, and sometimes makes you not need to take any drugs. However, this muscle pain must still be distinguished from serious muscle injury. So what should you do when DOMS occurs?

1.Rest aching or sore muscles

2.Eat nutritious food intake

3.Do static muscle stretches.

4.Do SMR in the area before the DOMS location.

With nutrition and rest, the recovery process will be faster. Meanwhile, stretching and SMR will help relax the tension in the muscles so that blood circulation in the DOMS area is better. Therefore it is important to have a regular schedule so that your body gets used to it.
